The story of my name is... ummmm.... hmmmm.... well, actually, I really have no clue. I've asked my mother before, but she didn't give me a straight answer. She just shrugged her shoulders and told me she just named me Roxanne. It was a spur of the moment kind of thing. An honest act of randomness.
I asked around, and one of my very many aunts said that she was the one who named me. I asked my mom if this was the honest-to-God truth and she told me not to listen to her because she was lying to me. I kind of figured. Soon, I gave up wondering. Now I'm at peace with the name I was given.
I learned to like my name, even though the song "Roxanne" was sung countless times to me. People still sing it to this day. I'm just so used to it, I don't really hear it when people sing it. In the 17 years that I've been living, I've only met two people with the same name as me, whereas people with names such as Breanna or Taylor meet someone with the same name practically everyday. Roxanne means "Dawn" in Persian. I think that's pretty neat-o. Well... that's my name and everything I know about it.

ReplyDeleteEvery time someone did sing "Roxanne" when they heard your name over the past two weeks, I did think of what you wrote in this creative piece.
